Devon Project
I built a house in Devon, Alberta. Along the way there were some rather interesting issues that I had to deal with.
Planning the project was smooth and easy. I did the design for everything myself, right from concept to the architechtural drawings. However, the first mistake discovered was in the approvals from the town. The architect hadn’t correctly calculated the lot coverage, and it was at 41% with the first set of drawings, and the fireplace stuck out too much, which made the house too wide on the lot (making it two errors that had to be fixed). So, back to the drawing board, I made a few modifications on the design, and got it approved. I ended up removing the front veranda and changing the location of the fireplace to make it fit. In this house, I wasn’t going as much for curb appeal as the interior comfort and design.
